Episode Cats131 was broadcast on 21 January 2021, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 21.

Paul Foot and Sean Lock played Jon Richardson and Angela Barnes, with Paul Foot and Sean Lock winning 55 – 40. The Dictionary Corner guest was Dr John Cooper Clarke, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

This episode was filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic, and indeed prior to the birth of Rachel Riley's daughter Maven: indeed, Riley spoke about her unborn baby during the introduction.

As usual with Clarke as guest, the contestants were asked to write a poem each, which were delivered between rounds four and five, with the winner, a tie between Foot and Lock, receiving five bonus points for their team.

NOTE: On the conundrum, Foot buzzed first, fractionally before Richardson and Barnes both buzzed. However, as the buzzers were not locked out, the clock was not restarted in between the three guesses.
