8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 9, Episode 4 was a special episode broadcast on 26 August 2016, as part of 8 out of 10 Cats Mash-ups Series 9.
8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Sean Lock and Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with David Mitchell and Katherine Ryan, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Sean Lock, with the assistance of David Mitchell, winning by 27 – 26 in an 7-rounder.
Rachel Riley was the arithmetician for this episode. The Dictionary Corner guest was the Brett Domino Trio, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
In Round 2, David was not asked to show his solution despite getting the same answer as Sean and Katherine.
Also, in Round 3, Rachel accidentally dropped the first consonant which led to initial confusion about whether the letter was an "M" or "W".
Finally, in the crucial conundrum, Katherine gave the answer "CLAPTIRES" after the clock stopped but her answer is recorded down here as she gave a response anyway.
NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
