8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 10, Episode 2 was a special episode broadcast on 20 January 2017, as part of 8 out of 10 Cats Mash-ups Series 10.

8 Out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson was a contestant, along with Phil Wang who were against acting team captain Russell Howard and Roisin Conaty, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

Russell's mother, Ninette was also present and played along although she did not declare anything, thus she is considered to be playing by herself.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Phil Wang, winning by 45 – 31 in an 7-rounder.

Rachel Riley was the arithmetician for this episode. The Dictionary Corner guest was Nick Helm, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Interesting moments from the episode are listed below:

1) In Round 1, Jon placed on Ear Mufflers while playing the round; he subsequently used an eye mask for Round 2 and combined both props for Round 3 which resulted in him oblivious that the Round was over for Round 3 until Phil nudged him.

2) In Round 3, despite Jon having worn the props as listed above, he got a valid 5-letter word listed as below. Oddly enough, the eight-letter word "PROFILES" was very obvious and much easier to spot than "TREFOILS" in the arrangement, yet Dictionary Corner could not spot it.

3) In Round 4, upset that Jimmy kept emphasising Russell's team had no points up to that point, he challenged Phil that if Roisin could get the solution, they would get 20 points instead of the usual 10. Roisin initially got stuck showing the solution but with the assistance of Rachel pointing out what numbers she had left, she solved it. Thus, even though this was considered cheating, 20 points were awarded to their team.

4) During the 30 seconds in Round 6, just as Jimmy sprinkled magic dust onto a gingerbread, a gigantic gingerbread man appeared behind him with a basket, to which he distributed a gingerbread man to each guest with their name written on it.

There was a bonus round called "Smashy Face" in between the second teaser and Round 5 which involved both Jon and Russell hitting each other's face or chest using tennis balls; 5 points were awarded to Russell's team for hitting Jon more precisely with a score of 9 – 8 .

NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
