8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 10, Episode 5 was a special episode broadcast on 10 February 2017, as part of 8 out of 10 Cats Mash-ups Series 10.

8 Out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson was a contestant, along with David Mitchell who were against acting team captain Joe Wilkinson and Roisin Conaty, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of David Mitchell, winning by 74 – 7 in an 7-rounder thanks to the conundrum being worth 34 points instead of 10 in a failed attempt to let Joe's team win the game.

Rachel Riley was the arithmetician for this episode. The Dictionary Corner guest was Tom Allen, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) Before the start of Round 1, after Jon showed his prop to the audience, Jimmy made an uncanny joke which caused the whole audience and guests to laugh out of control. A clip of the incident on Channel 4's Official YouTube Channel went viral after the show aired.

2) During the 30 seconds in Round 1, Jimmy made candy floss for the guests to the point that he also "made his hair" turn into candy floss and commented "I look like one of the Simpsons", to which he was obviously referring to Marge Simpson, except her hair was blue in colour while Jimmy's "hair" was pink.

3) In Round 3, although David called out for 5 vowels initially, they were not placed side by side on the board as Joe wanted Rachel to separate them out, thus the final layout on the board is shown below. Also, during the 30 seconds, the Countdown music was stopped as there was a Kiss Cam with alternate music going in the studio where the audience had to kiss each other if the camera pointed to them. Although Roisin was not playing that round, she got a rude five-letter word "PEN*S".

4) In between the second teaser and Round 5, for Jon Richardson and Joe Wilkinson both being good spots in eating a custard cake each, 1 bonus point was awarded to both teams.

5) Also during that time mentioned in Point 4, just for fun all the guests threw paper balls into a basket in the centre of the studio to see how many they could get in 30 seconds; all of them managed seven and just before the clock stopped, Rachel poured out a whole basket of yellow paper balls to fill up the basket.

NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
