Episode M21 was was broadcast from 21 August 1989 to 25 August 1989, as part of Series 1 of the Countdown Masters.

David Reid played Tim O'Kane, with David Reid winning 80 – 68. The lexicographer was Freda Thornton.

Reid's numbers selection in Round 11 is the first known instance of a game featuring four large numbers.

NOTE: The fourth conundrum had two valid solutions: LAMENTING and ALIGNMENT.
