Matt Croy

Matt Croy was a contestant in Series 65. He is an Apterite and also a serving police officer with Greater Manchester Police.

Croy began his Countdown Debut on 17 June 2011 as one of two brand new contestants following the Octorun of the eventual series winner Graeme Cole. Croy lasted until his 6th show until he was narrowly defeated by Andrew Halliburton 90-91 after his opponent guessed the conundrum MARQUETRY a fraction before the clock had completed 30 seconds. His 5 wins and 538 points was not enough to reach the series finals.

Special Episode

In late 2012, Croy was invited back to Countdown in a themed 'Men In Uniform' special episode against prison officer Craig Lingard. Croy was allowed to devote the show to the memory of his friends and colleagues Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes who had been killed on duty weeks earlier, he used his appearance as a fundraiser in their memory for the charity 'Care of Police Survivors' (COPS). This show is still yet to be broadcast.
