Richard Coles is a guest on Countdown. He was famous for being a clergyman until his retirement in 2022, and was a church reverend in Finedon, Northamptonshire from 2011–2022.
In a varied career, Coles was part of The Communards, a UK pop duo who had the biggest selling single of 1986 with a cover version of Don't Leave Me This Way. He is a frequent guest on television and radio, most prominently as the presenter of BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live.
He appeared on the 15th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, and is one of very few Dictionary Corner guests who can claim to have done worse than Rachel Riley and Carol Vorderman.
He presented five episodes in November 2022 as part of Channel 4's 40th birthday episodes.
