Series 83

Series 83 is the next series of Countdown and the eighteenth series presented by Nick Hewer, with some episodes presented by Colin Murray. It will be preceded by three special episodes after the finals of Series 82, and will run from January to June 2021. Recordings began in October 2020.

Despite England being placed in lockdown for the second time in November, filming of all editions of Countdown will go ahead. However, Nick Hewer will temporarily step down as host while he shields at home. Colin Murray will cover for Hewer as host during this period.

Social distancing guidelines introduced in the second half of the previous series, including a ban on studio audiences, will remain in place for the foreseeable future - at least until April 2021 - to suppress COVID-19. It remains unknown when or how these will be lifted.
