Series 87

Series 87 is the current series of Countdown. It began 23 January 2023, following Championship of Champions XVI, and is expected to conclude in June. It is the third series to feature Colin Murray as host.

On 11 January 2023, on Steph's Packed Lunch, it was officially announced that Murray was the new permanent host. He is understood to be on a two-year contract, retaining his role until at least the end of 2024.

Apterite Peter Burke, who won the last 5 heat games of the previous series, carried over his unbeaten run into the first episode of this series. Apterite Cillian McMulkin will also appear in this series.
