Peter Burke in Series 86.

Peter Burke was a contestant in Series 86 and a semi-finalist in Series 87. He was originally from County Donegal, but now lives in London. He is also an Apterite.

He first appeared on 8 December 2022 and won his first game with 86 points. He then won with two consecutive centuries, including a personal best of 112. Following his fifth win in the last overall preliminary of 2022, he was placed aside for the Series 86 finals.

After Championship of Champions XVI, he returned to the show to continue his run in the first preliminary of Series 87 and 2023. He won a further two matches before being unseated by Cillian McMulkin in his eighth game, missing out on becoming the first octochamp in the series. With 705 points across eight games, Burke's seven wins were eventually adequate to see him qualify for the finals in June.

Burke returned for the Series 87 finals as the No. 3 seed where he started out against No. 6 seed, Greg Pearce. Both players started level, before Pearce took a brief lead after the first numbers game. But Burke slowly clawed his way back and managed to obtain a century after the conundrum, to set up a semi-final rematch against McMulkin.

In the said rematch, it was a rather one-sided affair – even though Burke took an early lead with MODERATE. After that, it was all one-way traffic with McMulkin scoring almost three times as many points and word spots like DEMONICAL, EPISTERNA and RADICULES that contributed to an 81-point win margin. After neither player could turn EVILGRACE into VICEREGAL, Burke bowed out with his second defeat against McMulkin. His overall points tally is 853 across ten games.
