Peter Burke in Series 86.

Peter Burke was a contestant in Series 86 and a semi-finalist in 87. He was originally from County Donegal but now lives in London. He is also an Apterite.

Burke first appeared on 8 December 2022, winning his first game with 86 points over six game winner Rick Singh. He then won with two consecutive centuries, including a personal best of 112. Following his fifth win in the last preliminary of the series, he was placed aside for the series finals. He returned to the programme on 23 January 2023 to continue his run in the first preliminary of Series 87, following Championship of Champions XVI. He won a further two matches, but was unseated by Cillian McMulkin in his eighth game, missing out on becoming the first octochamp in the series. With 705 points across his eight games, Burke's seven wins were sufficient to see him qualify for the series finals in June.

Burke returned for the series finals as the number three seed, starting out against number six seed Greg Pearce. Both players started level, before Pearce took a brief lead after the first numbers round. However, Burke slowly clawed his way back, and managed to obtain a century after the conundrum, to set up a semi-final rematch against Cillian McMulkin. In the said rematch, it was a rather one-sided affair – even though Burke took an early lead with MODERATE, after that, it was all one-way traffic, with McMulkin scoring almost three times as many points and spots like DEMONICAL, EPISTERNA and RADICULES contributing to an 81-point margin. After neither player could turn EVILGRACE into VICEREGAL, Burke bowed out with his second defeat against McMulkin, and a final points tally of 853 from his 10 games.
