Greg Pearce
Greg Pearce was a contestant in Series 68 and a quarter-finalist in Series 87. He was from Bristol.
Pearce made his first Countdown appearance during the latter stages of Series 68 in May 2013. Although the game was close, he was beaten on a crucial conundrum by eventual octochamp Joe McGonigle.
Just under a decade later, Pearce returned for a second attempt in Series 87 in April 2023. His second game was decided by another crucial conundrum but this time, he unravelled it and claimed the teapot. Sporting three-piece suits during his second run, he then won his next two games with improved scores before climbing to a personal best of 116. After a run of four centuries, he was unseated by Pouvanen Pillay whose numbers games made the difference. Pearce still attained the highest cumulative total as one of the four six-time winners up to that point, with 680 points.
On his return for the series finals, Pearce met Peter Burke in his quarter-final. Pearce took an early lead after the first numbers round before becoming unstuck, and Burke ultimately broke away to obtain a century and relegate Pearce to another defeat. Pearce obtained a final total of 744 points across his Series 87 run. With his 2013 appearance, his overall total is 820 points.
