Series 87 is due to commence on 23 January 2023, following Championship of Champions XVI, and is expected to conclude in June. It is the third series to feature Colin Murray as presenter.

On 11 January 2023, on Steph's Packed Lunch, it was officially announced that Murray was the new permanent host. He is understood to be on a two-year contract, retaining his role at least until the end of 2024.

Peter Burke, who won the last 5 heat games of the previous series, will carry over his unbeaten run in the first episode of this series.
