Bob Lunt was a quarter-finalist in Series 79.

Lunt made his debut on 25 July 2018 and won in a tight contest against Bryan Harrison, after neither unscrambled the crucial conundrum of OVERNOFOP. This was followed by six consecutive victories, that included his highest score of 101.

He missed out on becoming an octochamp when he was beaten by Matthew Bass as the latter picked up speed from Round 5 to eventually prevail with 104 points, but Lunt got the conundrum to reach 80 points as a creditable losing score.

His seven wins and 726 points placed him in ninth position in the seeding table; it normally results in not qualifying but due the withdrawal of Robin Johnson, he qualified as the eighth seed.

When Lunt returned on 13 December, he was pitted against Martin May. After May spotted VERSIONAL in the first letters round, Lunt eventually fought back as he spotted the conundrum to finish with 86 points and render to another defeat. His overall points total is 812 across nine games.
