Haughton was the second player in Countdown history to score the theoretical maximum number of points in any "half" (with two nines and 10 points from the numbers game in the first three rounds), after Dylan Taylor on 13 August 2013.

At the time, Haughton's score of 147 points was the highest ever achieved in the finals of a regular series, beating Julian Fell with 146. It was beaten by Ronan Higginson with 150. Haughton's score was also the third-highest ever at the time.
