Series 90 is the present series of Countdown, and the sixth to feature Colin Murray as presenter. It began on 1 July 2024, and will conclude in December 2024.

Phil Campbell, who won the final three preliminary matches of Series 89, returned to continue his run in the first heat of this series.

Apterites Jon Stitcher and Robin Lyster have appeared in this series.

Episode 8310 was broadcast five minutes earlier at 14:05 to accommodate the live practice of the 2024 British Grand Prix.

Series 90 oversaw a significant overhaul made to Oxford Dictionaries Premium (ODP), which comprised thousands of the listed words imported from the Oxford English Dictionary in 2015 being spontaneously deleted from the site, predominantly those of an obscure nature. This permanent change, materialising on 16 July 2024, impacted the maxes available in letters games from the later stage of the series onwards.

Since Series 60, players are sorted by number of wins, then by number of points. Points from both wins and losses count. Points from sudden death conundrums are not counted, and players with the same number of wins and points are sorted by the number of conundrums correctly guessed, then highest single-game score.
