Daaniyal Ali was a contestant in Series 84. He was a College Student from Swindon.
Daaniyal made his debut against Steven Grady (who won the coveted teapot in the previous episode) as before gameplay - Ali would gain some notoriety for saying to Anne Robinson that “she was too old to go clubbing and that people wouldn't know her”. The game itself went to a crucial conundrum with both players on eighty points, facing a scramble of BEDARRNED and thirteen seconds in… Ali pressed his buzzer believing the answer to be REBRANDED in which it was to clinch the victory, the teapot and the champion's chair.
Ali went on to win a further three games with a high score of 121 in his fourth game where he spotted PORCELAIN in the fourth round for maximum points. But alas, he was matched up against top Apterite and eventual series champion, Ahmed Mohamed, in his fifth game in which Mohamed won by sixty points to end Ali's run despite solving the conundrum of ANAILGURU as a consolation.
He appeared on ZoomDown Series 4 after his episodes were broadcast - his first match was against Joey Burton in which he won on a crucial conundrum of DISCOANNE, and then he lost to Martyn Pegram in his second game by five points despite solving the conundrum of TOXTREBLE.
He is now an Apterite, and made his CO-event debuts at Co:Brum 2023 and Co:Reading 2024.
