Marcel Stellman on A Tribute to Countdown: 3000 and Counting.
Marcel Stellman was a Belgian record executive who brought the format of French show, Des chiffres et des lettres, to Britain where it ultimately became Countdown. He also wrote a number of famous songs, including the lyrics to Tulips from Amsterdam, film numbers and I Will Live My Life for You from Ghosts of Mississippi.
He appeared on the celebration programmes for Countdown's 2000th episode in 1997, 3000th episode in 2001 and 5000th episode in 2010. He also presented the trophy to Conor Travers at the end of 30th Birthday Championship in 2013.
He sadly passed away on 2 May 2021. The episode broadcast on 4 May 2021 was dedicated to him.
