Episode 3387 was broadcast on 18 December 2002, and was the first semi-final of Series 48.
Danny Hamilton played Julian Fell, with Julian Fell winning 146 – 77. The Dictionary Corner guest was Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and the lexicographer was Richard Samson.
Fell's score of 146 was the highest score ever achieved on Countdown at the time until it was beaten by Zarte Siempre with a score of 150 on 17 January 2019. This was also the first (and to date only) time that a contestant has got four nines in a single game.
