At the end of the episode, the show celebrated Carol Vorderman's 40th birthday (as it fell on a Sunday), with Richard Whiteley presenting her with a copy of his then-recently published autobiography, Himoff!: The Memoirs of a TV Matinée Idle, and Greg Scott (the warm-up man at the time) making an appearance to present her with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a balloon.
