Episode Cats40, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 7, Episode 7 was a special episode broadcast on 26 June 2015, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 7.
8 Out of 10 Cats regular Sean Lock and Acting Team Captain Sarah Millican were the contestants, along with Bob Mortimer and Katherine Ryan who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Sean Lock, with the assistance of Bob Mortimer, winning by 50 – 41 in an 8-rounder and they won a Countdown goalpost.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Alex Horne & the Horne Section, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
In Rounds 2 and 5, the clock music was replaced by a salsa-style music and Yakety Sax played by Alex's band respectively.
This episode was also the first to introduce Bonus Rounds into the game, becoming a semi-permanent feature afterwards. In view of the prize being a goalpost, Bob and Sarah were asked to challenge Rachel, who had dressed as a goalkeeper, to score as many goals as possible into that goalpost within 30 seconds. Bob won over Sarah, with the goals at 5 – 3. Notably, Sarah's last goal was using her hand which should have been ruled as a foul but it went unnoticed. Thus, the goals should have been 5 – 2. The number of goals scored were then converted into points which were added to the overall score.
NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
NOTE 2: Dictionary Corner's spot of BEWARES in Round 1 is no longer valid in the ODO. However, as it was still valid at the time of filming, it is kept here.
