5) In Round 4, Rachel did not place the numbers in sequence as Jon had asked for the numbers one by one. Also, the original target was 118 which could have been obtained by this solution: 100 + 7 + 4 + 8 - 1. However, seeing how Joe's team were laughing at how small the target was, Rachel pressed [[CECIL]] for another target much to Joe's disbelief.

Episode Cats82, or 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 12, Episode 8 was a special episode broadcast on 1 May 2017, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 12.

Acting Team Captain Joe Wilkinson and Regular Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Katherine Ryan and Chris Addison who were their teammates respectively, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Chris Addison, winning by 41 – 18 in an 7-rounder and they won a Countdown metal detector.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was David O'Doherty, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Just before Round 5, both Joe and Jon had to feel objects which were all spelt with nine letters one at a time while blindfolded and guess what they were. Joe got the words STOCKINGS and FISHERMAN while Jon got the words BRASSIERE, DACHSHUND and CHIPOLATA. Hence, Jon's team won the game with the score at 3 – 2 and five points were awarded to his team.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) During the Introduction, Jon introduced Countdown's "official" prop which he termed "Clockey", a 30-second low quality timer. His teammate Chris accidentally damaged it while he was preparing to do push-ups in the centre of the stage. Joe's prop on the other hand was that of a "sex" doll, and even showed photographs of him with the doll when he was younger.

2) During the 30 seconds in Round 1, Jimmy and Rachel had a thumb fight in the centre of the stage. Frustrated at losing to Rachel, Jimmy went to draw an enormous hand prop, to which Rachel had no choice but to admit defeat, after which Jimmy said "Yeah, fuck you lady." This was later referenced in Episode 6691 on the normal version some four months later.

3) In Round 2, impatient at Joe Wilkinson not knowing how to play the Numbers Round and anyhow selecting what numbers he wanted, Jimmy decided for his team and went for six small numbers. Also, Joe tried to predict the target and thought it was 723.

4) In Round 3, the music was replaced with a classic can-can music and Jimmy "showed off" his dancing skills at the centre of the stage.

5) In Round 4, Rachel did not place the numbers in sequence as Jon had asked for the numbers one by one. Also, the original target was 118 which could have been obtained using: 100 + 7 + 8 − 4 − 1. However, seeing how Joe's team were laughing at how small the target was, Rachel pressed CECIL again much to Joe's disbelief to obtain the final target of 770.

6) During the 30 seconds in Round 6, Jimmy drank what was seen as an "Invisible Potion", however in reality he was wearing objects that were green and when blended in with a green screen made him invisible. This was evident in that the outlines of him were seen in green.

NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

NOTE 2: The answer to the second teaser, stickups ☓ is actually hyphenated in the ODO and is thus, invalid.

A short segment of this episode was sampled in the 15 April 2021 episode of Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont's sitcom Meet the Richardsons.
