Episode S1 was the first of a series of special episodes recorded to fill odd days when the main series were interrupted for a week due to Channel 4 showing sporting events.
This episode was broadcast on 26 May 2003.
The contestants were Stuart Barker, a five-time winner in Series 35, and his wife Daphne Barker, who narrowly lost her debut game in Series 42. Stuart emerged the winner 98 – 78. The Dictionary Corner guest was Ann Widdecombe, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
