John Taylor was a contestant in Series 21 and 72.
He first appeared in 1991, losing to octochamp Lew Schwarz before returning to Countdown nearly 24 years later. Unfortunately, his offerings of EMPLOY, STEERAGE and GARNET were not in the selection, as they needed another E, and he later offered GRANT, which was spelt out in the selection, with an E available for GARNET that time. He thus scored a lower total despite playing a longer format.
