Ryan Carlsen was a contestant in Series 85, who made his debut in Series 66. He was a Banker from Glasgow.
Carlsen's first game was contested in Nick Hewer's first series on 28 February 2012, where he faced the late Peter Lee. The game was very close throughout, but Carlsen was narrowly beaten after an incorrect crucial conundrum answer by a single letter, while Lee went on to become an octochamp and a semi-finalist. Carlsen's Countdown journey didn't end there howewer, as he was allowed to return a decade later. He faced another crucial conundrum, but this time made no mistake as he unravelled RETRYTRIO into TERRITORY to claim the teapot. In his third win, his opponent lost with – for the first time ever in the 15 round format – the lowest possible score of 0 points.
