Sam Butcher was a contestant in Series 57. She was the first fictional character to be a contestant on countdown, having been a key character in Eastenders for several years in the 1990's and early 2000's. She is still the only fictitious contestant, unless you count Jeffrey Hansford who is regarded as such by some countdown afficianados.
