Terry Knowles was an octochamp in Series 39.

He first appeared on 10 November 1998, beating reigning champion Freddie Marshall in impressive fashion, and won a further seven games with a points total of 502, making him the clear #1 seed for the final rounds. In the heats, he faced just one Crucial Conundrum, in his last heat game against Juliet Montague. He then beat Val Swanick convincingly in the quarter-finals, by 65 – 33 but came unstuck against Richard Saldanha in the semi-finals, losing 51 – 41 on a Crucial Conundrum. Terry played in Championship of Champions X at the end of the following year, beating John Ashmore in the first round but losing to eventual winner Scott Mearns in the semi-final.
