Tom Stevenson was a contestant in Series 86 from Burford in Shropshire. He is also an Apterite, and participated in Series 1 and Series 2 of ZoomDown.

In 2020, he appeared on the Radio 2 quiz Popmaster, winning a Bluetooth speaker.

He made his TV debut the show after Alan Young become an octochamp, kicking off with a hefty 120 points against Mike Oliver.

But, much more notably, in his 4th game he spotted three 9-letter words; BRIMSTONE, MAINLINER and OVERSIGHT, scored 154 out of 154 points to break Elliott Mellor's three-year-old record for the highest ever score on the show, and achieved only the 12th ever max game in the history of Countdown.
