Young met Jon O'Neill in the third quarter-final, in a game due to be broadcast on 27 June 2005, however due to the death of Richard Whiteley the previous day, the recording was broadcast on the 28th. O'Neill ran out the winner, in a game notable for the complete inability of anyone in the studio to unscramble IRONCASTS on the conundrum.
