David Nickeas was a quarter-finalist in Series 48. He was a bookseller from Southport, but born in Cyprus.

In his eighth game, he faced Danny Hamilton who held him to a crucial conundrum, which Hamilton was the first to solve.
Nickeas returned for the series finals as number seven seed, behind six octochamps, although he had a higher points total than Joe Zubaidi and Julia Wilkinson. Against number two seed Grace Page, Nickeas looked nervous and missed SOBERING in the first round, which eventually cost him the game as he lost by just four points.
On 13, 17 and 18 November 2014, he appeared as a contestant on Fifteen to One.
