Campbell first appeared in 1997, being part of a very unfortunate draw as the final heat opponent of eventual octochamp, series semi-finalist, and Championship of Champions IX winner Natascha Kearsey. Phil played a good game and snatched the conundrum from Kearsey, but it wasn't enough to stave off defeat and stop Natascha from securing Octochampdom.
Series 89 and Series 90
Just over 27 years later, Campbell came back, and won the final three heat games of Series 89, before being placed aside for the end-of-series finals. He returned for Series 90, where he won the opening game with 101 points, before losing to Stacey Burke in the second game.
