Annie Humphries was an octochamp in Series 75. She is probably the first laryngectomee to appear on the programme, and speaks through a voice prosthesis.
She debuted on 5th August 2016 and achieved three centuries during her octochamp run to qualify for the Series 75 finals, averaging 97 per game. However, she was unable to attend the finals' recording dates. In a December 2016 tweet, the show's producers confirmed that Humphries would instead be added to the list of people eligible for the Series 76 finals in June 2017.[1]
Humphries ultimately qualified for these finals as #5 seed. In her quarter-final appearance, she prevailed over #4-ranked Elliott Mack. She fell 7 behind after the second numbers round, but beat him in three letters rounds with findings of PRIMULA, CLASSIER and ROMANIZE to seal victory prior to the conundrum.
