Episode Cats93, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 15, Episode 1 was a special episode broadcast on 19 January 2018, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 15.

Acting Team Captain Kevin Bridges and Regular Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Jessica Knappett and Joe Wilkinson who were their teammates respectively, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Joe Wilkinson, winning by 34 – 29 in an 7-rounder and they won a Countdown horse riding kit which were a pair of hobby horses.

Just before Round 5, all players had to compose a poem for Dr John Cooper Clarke to hear and he would choose who had the best one. He felt that Jon's poem was the best, thus five points were awarded to his team.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Dr John Cooper Clarke, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) In Round 1, the letters G, the second S, T, E, and R were the fourth, fifth and seventh to ninth letters drawn out in the original selection respectively, however as Joe anticipated the rude word PISSING, Rachel swapped the positions around. Thus, the selection would have been PISGSITER if nothing was done. Also, during the 30 seconds, Jimmy swang hula hoops tossed by Rachel and at the end did a headstand and swung one around his foot as well as being impatient with Jessica and Kevin's time to declare the length of their words.

2) In Round 2, Kevin was not asked to show that he did the same method as Joe. Simialrly, Jon was not asked to show his solution despite getting the target.

3) During the 30 seconds in Round 3, Jimmy used a "Spell Book" and using a wand, turned Rachel into a tortoise, Susie into a plant and Jon into a dog but reverted them into their original form after realising Jon could not declare properly and Rachel being unable to spell the words out on the board.

4) In Round 4, despite Kevin not playing the round, he gave the solution on behalf of Rachel Riley after reaching the target.

5) Just after the third Teaser's answer was revealed, Joe joked with Jimmy that he thought Jon was thinking about his prop which was a pencil holder in the shape of a woman's buttocks due to the word NOB which then sidetracked to Joe standing up and showing his bum, only for Jon to compare it side by side with his prop.

6) During the 30 seconds in Round 6, Jimmy read a copy of "The Daily Countdown" which is a parody of "The Daily Mail" in which the front page read "Full Moon Tonight", to which there was "lightning" and "thunder" which caused him to "transform" into a wolf. Also, Susie burst into laughter and lost it when saying the definition of TAMPING which made unfortunate coincidental references to Joe's prop.

NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

NOTE: In Round 1, Jessica's answer is taken to be misdeclared even though nothing was mentioned about it. Furthermore, as Kevin and Joe's declarations were of equal length, the score would not have been affected.
