Episode S1 was broadcast on 26 May 2003, as a special episode between a husband and wife. It was broadcast following the conclusion of England vs Zimbabwe.
Stuart Barker played Daphne Barker, with Stuart Barker winning 98 – 78. The Dictionary Corner guest was Ann Widdecombe, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
This was the first of a series of special episodes recorded to fill odd days when the main series were interrupted for a week due to Channel 4 showing sporting events.
The episode was repeated on 21 December 2004.
