2023 FOCAL finals

From Countdown

The 2023 FOCAL finals, also known as Countdown in Milton Keynes 2023, was a co-event, organised by FOCAL chairman Callum Todd and hosted by Adam Beach, on 25 November 2023 as the closing event of the 2023 FOCAL season. It ran concurrently with the Milton Keynes Open: a tournament for those attendees who didn't qualify as one of the top eight finalists. As with the previous season, it was won by Jack Hurst, who beat George Armstrong 54 – 39 in the championship grand final.

It was held at the Novotel in Milton Keynes for the second consecutive year, where the eight finalists underwent a round-robin of seven 9-round games in the Bristol format. There was just a 10-point gap between Hurst and Armstrong going into the championship grand final match, with Hurst having accumulated 454 points and Armstrong 444.

The event experimented with a useful, purpose-built presentation software developed by Series 80 octochamp Fiona Titcombe. Furthermore, it saw FOCAL chairman Callum Todd announce his decision to step down from the role.
