Appearances on the show

Heat games

Debuting the day after Heather Styles completed her octorun, Barnard began his Countdown run with his nine-letter word spot of DELATIONS and ran out the winner by 94 – 69 against Susan Holden. Seven more wins that included three centuries, followed it up to see Barnard rack up an octotal of 771 and eventually become the last octochamp of Series 67 and 2012.

Finals

Barnard returned for the series finals as the No. 2 seed, where he defeated Chris Marshall in his quarter-final to set up a semi-final clash with Styles. In a tight game which saw both players level after fourteen rounds, it was Styles who solved the conundrum of BLUEINDIA to take her place in the grand final.

Championship of Champions XIV

Barnard returned in January 2016 for Championship of Champions XIV. In the first round, he came up against Andy Platt. In a nip and tuck game which saw the lead change hands several times, Barnard held a two-point advantage when going into the conundrum but he lost after the latter correctly solved the conundrum. Of the fifteen shows in the tournament, this was the only one that didn't feature a century from either contestant.

Co-events

Barnard made his Co-event debut at CobliviLon and he won CoBris 2015, defeating James Robinson in the final.
