Chris Colsmann played Verity Joubert, with Verity Joubert winning 86 – 65. The Dictionary Corner guests were David Jacobs and Jon Pertwee, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Notably, this final involved the two lowest seeds of the series, with Joubert and Colsmann having been seeded No. 7 and No. 8 respectively. A No. 7 vs No. 8 grand final is an extremely rare occurrence that always requires at least four seed-table upsets in the quarter- and semi-finals.

An out-take from this episode, with Richard Whiteley saying that the following series would take place "in January of 1966" [1] was sampled in Channel 5's 2019 documentary Britain's Favourite Game Shows.
