Janet Wilding played Glyn Wigley, with Glyn Wigley winning 60 – 56. The Dictionary Corner guest was Geoffrey Durham, and the lexicographer was Mark Nyman.
Nyman introduced the ninth edition of the Concise Oxford Dictionary in this episode, mentioning that new words like SLAPPER and VIDEOFIT would now be allowed.
This was also the first episode that featured the short-lived "extra intensity" clock music, the triangular title logo (though the light-up banner above the clock in the studio, continued to display the previous logo for a short time) and the title music that has eventually remained in use today.
