Cathy Morgan was a finalist in Series 12.
From Gillingham, she made her debut towards the end of the series, and won the final seven heats of the series to enter the finals unbeaten as #2 seed. In the quarter-final, however, she lost to Janet McRae. A good first numbers solution had given Morgan a 10-point lead, but when McRae unscrambled the conundrum AGOGLEENY into GENEALOGY she forced a sudden death conundrum. The scramble, RMADILLOA, meant that it was perhaps more a test of speed to the buzzer than conundrum-unravelling skills, and McRae buzzed in with ARMADILLO just a split second ahead of Morgan to win 67 – 57.
Morgan also played in Championship of Champions III, but lost in the first round to David Trace.
