This episode introduced the "original" blue set, replacing the pink-striped design that was used between Championship of Champions XI and Series 59.

Episode 4733 was broadcast on 12 January 2009, and was the first preliminary of Championship of Champions XIII.

David O'Donnell played James Hurrell, with David O'Donnell winning 101 – 82. The Dictionary Corner guest was Andrew Sachs, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

This episode introduced of what is now the "original" blue set, and also marked the debuts of Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley.

For her first numbers game, Riley was offered up a very easy one by CECIL and she offered the solution rather than O'Donnell and Hurrell.
