Revision as of 16:29, 31 October 2020
Episode Cats29, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 6, Episode 2 was a special episode broadcast on 16 January 2015, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 6.
8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Sean Lock and Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Roisin Conaty and Jack Whitehall who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Jack Whitehall, winning by 890 – 28 in an 7-rounder thanks to the Conundrum being worth 843 points as that was the amount needed by Richardson to beat Conor Travers' record numbers of points scored in the history of Countdown and they won a Countdown Shower Curtain with Jimmy's face on it, to which he was wearing a shower cap.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician, and Joe Wilkinson "helped" her out from round 5 onwards. The Dictionary Corner guest was Rob Beckett, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
NOTE 2: In Round 7, Jon buzzed in to answer, only for Jack to say BRACING even though Jon knew the correct answer EMBRACING. Jimmy then took Jack's answer as the response since by default the first response has to be accepted which caused an uproar in the audience. Thus, to make it fair, another conundrum was then played worth 843 points.
