The show was originally shown as part of a "Mash-Up" series celebrating Channel 4's 30th birthday in 2012. The show is a fusion of the shows, Countdown and 8 out of 10 Cats.

4 shows had been broadcast, and following the success of these 4 episodes, a 4-episode series was commissioned by Channel 4 in June 2013.
