John Wallace was an octochamp in Series 5 and a participant in Championship of Champions II.

An airways passenger services duty controller from Crawley in Surrey, he beat Richard Maddox on his début, and rattled off a further seven wins to become an octochamp – the third ever after William Bradford and Mark Nyman – and the clear #1 seed for the final stages. However, Wallace was beaten in the quarter-final by Robert Violett 67 – 49.

Wallace returned for Championship of Champions II, beating Ian Bebbington in the first round before losing to Pete Evans in the semi-final. He made a further return for Countdown Masters, losing to Nita Marr.
