Andy Platt played Dylan Taylor, with Dylan Taylor winning 127 – 125. The Dictionary Corner guest was John Inverdale, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
NOTE 1: Platt's and Taylor's joint score of 252 points was the highest achieved in the new 15-round format at the time, beating 248 just eleven days earlier. It was beaten with 272 on 17 January 2019, which then became the second-highest ever achieved in the new 15-round format as well as the third-highest.
NOTE 2: Platt's losing score of 125 was the highest of all time, beating the prior record (jointly held by Matthew Shore on 8 June 2006 and Chris Davies on 15 February 2013) by eight points. It was never broken until 26 June 2026 by Charlie Harrison who scored 127 but lost in the Series 93 grand final.
