Kevin Thurlow appeared in series 47, where he defeated Deanne Meeres in his first game, scoring 123 points in the process- a score that remains to this day the joint-highest ever debut score on Countdown. He became an octochamp and returned for the final rounds in summer 2002 as #6 seed. He pulled off a minor upset by defeating #3 seed Lee Hartley in the quarter-finals, but was defeated in the semi-finals by ultimate runner-up Tom Hargreaves.

Recently, Kevin has been involved in running the Countdown in Redhill tournament (or CoRed for short), which began in March 2007.
