William Bradford was an octochamp in Series 3.

A hotelier from Cambridge, he first appeared on 17 October 1983 and beat 7-time winner Allan Simmons. He went on to become the first octochamp in Countdown history. He returned to the finals as #2 seed, where he beat David Brook in the quarter-final before losing to eventual champion Andrew Guy in the semi-final.

Also known as Bill, he is a top Scrabble player. His son, Peter, appeared on the show in Series 25.
