Series 90 is the present series of Countdown, and the sixth to feature Colin Murray as presenter. It began on 1 July 2024, and will conclude in December 2024.
Phil Campbell, who won the final three preliminary matches of Series 89, returned to continue his run in the first heat of this series.
Apterites Jon Stitcher, Robin Lyster, Richard Barnett, Jamie Dutton and Caroline Hofman have appeared in this series.
Episode 8310 was broadcast five minutes earlier at 14:05 to accommodate the live practice of the 2024 British Grand Prix. Countdown was also off-air from 29 August to 6 September due to Channel 4's coverage of the 2024 Summer Paralympics.
Series 90 oversaw a significant overhaul made to Oxford Dictionaries Premium (ODP), which comprised thousands of the listed words imported from the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) in 2015 being spontaneously deleted from the site, predominantly those of an obscure nature. Over 95,000 words were removed in total. This permanent change, materialising on 16 July 2024, impacted the maxes available in letters games during the later stage of the series – specifically from Episode 8354 which premiered on 16 September 2024.
