Andy Platt was an octochamp and runner-up in Series 68. He is also an Apterite and member of c4countdown.
His octochamp run came when Countdown altered the 15 round format, so his first 4 shows were in the "original" 15 round format, while his second 4 shows were in the "new" 15 round format.
He is the seventh person to have scored a century or more in all of his eight heat games. Furthermore, his aggregate winning margin against his 8 preliminary opponents is the highest in Countdown history, standing at 565 - an average of marginally over 70 points difference per game. Similarly, the combined score of his opponents in the 8 preliminary games is the lowest in Countdown history, which is 324.
He made his CO-event debut at CoChest finishing in 3rd place, which he then followed up with another 3rd place at COLIN 2012, then he won Group B at CoLei5. He subsequently attended COHUD, winning Group C, CobliviLon, COEDI and COLIN 2013, the latter of which resulting in a tie for 4th place with Matt Bayfield.
He has often been called "Formidable" by presenter Nick Hewer, in a similar way to how potential series rival Giles Hutchings is sometimes called "The Typhoon".
